NGAUS/AFBA Scholarships

AFBA NGAUS Active Life Member Scholarship

Scholarship for NGAUS active life and digital life members and their family members

The AFBA NGAUS Active Life Member Scholarship awards two $5,000 scholarships every July to Active Life members of NGAUS or dependents of Active Life members seeking an undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate degree. The applicant must be a full-time student.

The Van Hipp Heroes Scholarship Fund

Scholarship for wounded Guardsmen

Guard soldiers and airmen who were wounded in an operational or training mission during the Global War on Terrorism are eligible for a $1,000 college scholarship from the Van Hipp Heroes Scholarship Fund.

Leonardo DRS Guardian Scholarship Fund

Scholarship for Guard children

Do you know the child of a National Guardsman who was killed in the Global War on Terrorism who is now attending college or planning on attending college soon? If so, they may be eligible for a Leonardo DRS Guardian Scholarship of up to $6,250 annually. Administered by the National Guard Educational Foundation, the fund has provided more than $500,000 in scholarships over the last 10 years.

EANGUS Scholarships

1. The CSM Virgil R. Williams and the Patriot Scholarships are paid by EANGUS directly to the school the selectee is attending. 

Requirements to apply for the CSM Virgil R. Williams & Patriot Scholarships:

1.  EANGUS Membership Number (required for application)

  1.  Transcripts (HS, College, CLEP, etc.) (Unofficial transcripts will be accepted unless otherwise noted)
  2.  On-line application (with transcripts uploaded)
  3. Deadline to apply is normally April each year (unless listed otherwise)

**Additional information may be required for specific schools**

2. The second type of scholarship is presented by specific universities that EANGUS has partnered with. The links to each scholarship will be located on the EANGUS website. Details for each scholarship along with the requirements will posted on the EANGUS website. What is the Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant?

Authorized in Illinois statute by the Higher Education Student Assistance Act (110 ILCS 947/), the Illinois National Guard Grant pays college tuition and certain fees (registration, graduation, general activity, matriculation, and term fees) for eligible applicants.

How do you qualify for the National Guard grant in Illinois?

Have completed one full year of service in the Illinois National Guard. Be enrolled at an Illinois public 2- or 4-year college. Not be in default on any educational loan or, if in default, have reinstated eligibility in accordance with ISAC Rules. Not owe a refund on any state or federal grant.
